Our Story:
About the Goldfinch Foundation
The Goldfinch Foundation (GFF) was founded in memory of Owen Willers—an 18-year-old artist, athlete, leader, and beloved son who struggled with mental illness. Following Owen’s unexpected passing in 2024, his family was visited by a bright yellow goldfinch—a symbol of joy, resilience, and spiritual connection. This moment inspired the creation of GFF.
Owen’s story, his values, and his artwork left a roadmap that now guides our mission: to champion mental wellness, build community, and encourage a culture rooted in vulnerability, connection, and purpose.
What We Stand For
-
Destigmatize Mental Health conversations
We believe that talking openly about mental health is the first step toward healing. Through storytelling, education, and safe spaces, we help make vulnerability feel normal—and silence feel optional.
-
Provide Evidence-Based Tools for Wellness
We share trusted, science-backed practices that support emotional and mental health—from mindfulness and movement to sleep habits and digital boundaries. Wellness should be accessible, not overwhelming.
-
Foster Real-World Connection and Community
Human connection is essential. We encourage unplugged moments, shared experiences, and authentic relationships that remind us we’re not alone—and never meant to be.
-
Inspire Change Through Compassion, Not Judgment
Shame shuts people down. Kindness opens them up. We lead with empathy, create space for honesty, and believe meaningful change begins with understanding—not criticism.

The world needs healing. Let’s begin with honesty hope & light.
