Our Mission
At The Goldfinch Foundation, our mission is to shine a light on the importance of mental health and social connection as essential to overall wellness, and to empower young people to lead that change.
We believe mental wellness should be approachable, accessible, and woven into everyday life — not confined to clinical settings alone. Through community experiences grounded in education, creativity, movement, nature, and human connection, we help young people build resilience, self-awareness, purpose, and belonging.
By bringing together trusted mental health professionals, physicians, educators, artists, and community leaders, we create safe and welcoming spaces where teens and families can learn, connect, create, and grow — often without the constant presence of a screen.
Goldfinch exists to move beyond awareness alone and toward real-world action, helping individuals and communities build healthier habits, stronger relationships, and more meaningful lives.
Our Vision
We envision a world where conversations about mental wellness are open, honest, and free from stigma — and where young people feel empowered to take healthy risks, express themselves creatively, seek support, and form meaningful offline connections.
We believe flourishing happens when people feel connected: to themselves, to others, to purpose, and to their communities.
Through science-informed programming and shared experiences, The Goldfinch Foundation aims to help lead a cultural shift — one that values prevention, vulnerability, creativity, movement, and belonging as essential parts of lifelong wellness.
Our Pillars are all rooted in social connection
Community
We create opportunities for meaningful connection between peers, parents, mentors, educators, and professionals through shared experiences, open dialogue, and trust. By partnering with artists, physicians, teachers, and community organizations, we aim to build a collective force for change — together, we are stronger.
Mind-Body Practices
We promote physical activity, outdoor experiences, and healthy daily habits as essential components of emotional regulation, resilience, and overall well-being. Research continues to show that exercise, movement, sleep, sunlight, and time in nature play a powerful role in reducing anxiety, improving mood, strengthening social connection, and supporting long-term mental and physical health.
We help young people reconnect with their bodies, their communities, and the world around them.
Education
We believe education is one of the most powerful tools for prevention and long-term wellness. In today’s digital world, young people are constantly exposed to mental health information online, yet much of it is incomplete, misleading, or shaped by algorithms rather than trusted expertise.
At Goldfinch, we believe awareness alone is not enough. Young people and families need science-informed education, practical tools, trusted mentors, and opportunities for honest conversation.
Creativity
In a world dominated by screens, scrolling, and constant consumption, many young people no longer have space for boredom, imagination, reflection, or creative expression. Yet creativity plays a powerful role in emotional regulation, confidence, resilience, and connection.
Creative experiences can be healing, energizing, and deeply connecting. Research shows they may help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood and attention, strengthen cognitive function, and foster a greater sense of purpose and belonging.
Let’s build a culture where people feel safe to be human.
